A treaty, held at the town of Lancaster, in Pennsylvania, by the honourable the lieutenant-governor of the province, and the honourable the commissioners for the provinces of Virginia and Maryland, with the Indians of the Six Nations, in June, 1744 (1744)

The council was convened on Friday, June 22, 1744 and lasted until July 4th. Lieutenant Governor George Thomas of Pennsylvania was presiding along with deputies from Maryland and Virgina attending; on the other side were the Senecas, Onandogas, Oneidas, Cayugas, and Tuscaroras. This treaty was held to settle disputes between the colonies of Maryland and Virginia and the Six Nations relative to lands claimed by the Indians in those colonies. The troubles between the Six Nations and the Cherokees and Catawabs are mentioned as well.

A treaty between the president and council of the province of Pennsylvania, and the Indians of Ohio, held at Philadelphia, Nov. 13. 1747 (1748)

The president, Anthony Palmer, and the council of the province of Pennsylvania were present; on the other side was a delegation of Indians of the Six Nations (the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora) from the Ohio country, who came without invitation. The informed the council that at the beginning of the war with France the Six Nations had been advised by the English colonists to remain neutral. However, after the French and some of their Indian allies had attacked English settlements, the Indians had repeatedly requested to join with the English.

The gentleman's magazine and historical chronicle

The Gentleman's Magazine was a monthly magazine published in London in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th century. The Gentleman's Magazine began publication with the January 1731 issue. Over time the magazine had various subtitles, including "monthly intelligencer" and "historical review". It started a new series in 1834, and again in 1868; but volume numbering appears to be have been somewhat inconsistent. It ceased publication in 1907. Contains opinions and comment on other currently published newspapers and magazines, a selection of poetry, essays, historical events, voyages, news (foreign and domestic) including news of North America, a register of the month's new publications, a calendar of forthcoming trade fairs, a summary of monthly events, vital statistics (births, deaths, marriages), preferments, commodity prices. Samuel Johnson contributed parliamentary reports as "Debates of the Senate of Magna Lilliputia."
